Factfulness:Refresh Your Information

Can you guess how many of the girls in the world go to school compared to boys? Or how many percent of the world's population can access clean water resources?

Our information may age over time. With the discovery of Göbeklitepe, the thought that religion entered the lives of people with settled life went to waste.Information for both natural sciences and social sciences may be updated over time. But updating is much faster in social sciences. But can we really follow these updates?

We often hear extreme and bad news from the mass media; increasing population growth, drought etc. Of course there are things in our world that are not going well. So how aware are we of what is going well or what is getting better? So let's talk about a bilaterally book: Factfulness.

You will notice from the very beginning of the book that your information is not at all up to date.

They co-authored this book with Hans Rosling, Ola Rosling and Anna Rosling Rönnlund. Hans Rosling is not with us now. I think the awareness he wanted to create is very valuable and he has really worked hard for it. That's why he managed to stay with us even though he was not physically among us.

Let's talk about the gapminder.org . This site aims to keep our information up to date.

They say: "Our mission is to fight devastating ignorance with a fact-based worldview everyone can understand.

Gapminder identifies systematic misconceptions about important global trends and proportions and uses reliable data to develop easy to understand teaching materials to rid people of their misconceptions.

Gapminder is an independent Swedish foundation with no political, religious, or economic affiliations."

You can access the data in the book on this site. And you can test your information. https://www.gapminder.org/
